A Pieceful Life

I'm so glad that you stopped by, and hope that you enjoy your visit. Here you will find pieces of my life - quilting, cross-stitch, family, travel, friends.
My name is Peg - I am a 60ish wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend - and if we're not already related or friends, hope to become your friend too.
We live in the eastern end of the beautiful Fraser Valley, about 1.5 hours east of Vancouver, BC. Empty nesters, we have one son living just a few minutes away, our other son and daughter live in Alberta.
Comments are always welcome, always read - and answered if need be. Feel free to share, I love hearing from all my cyber-space friends.

Farewell Friend

Yesterday we said goodbye to our friend Tom.  After a very brief illness, Tom left this earth on June 25 surrounded by family and friends.

We knew Tom through our involvement with the Scottish Heavy Events, where he came out at first to support and cheer on his competitor son and eventually went on to help with marking the distance of the throws of all of the athletes.

This picture is Tom on the field holding his youngest grandson, when he got a chance to take a break.

Tom was one of the cheeriest people we knew, always ready with a smile and a kind word.  He loved to joke, and never missed an opportunity to poke fun at life.  His family was all- important to him, and he spent his retirement years taking every opportunity to spend time with his children and grand-children.  The local Lion’s Club was his social network and a life-long opportunity to serve his community.  Tom worked at the same company his whole life, 47 years of service – unheard of in this day and age.

His love, loyalty, cheer, and helpful heart were continuous themes in the tributes to his life heard at the service yesterday.

We’ll miss him – and pray for his family as they grieve the loss of their loving father and grandfather.

  3. A very kind eulogy, Peg. I'm sorry for you loss.
