It’s A

Girl……………9.US 12 weeks

and A…………….

‘nother Girl…………..

23

Yes, we’ve learned that Tadpole and Turtle are both little girls!

Our DS1 is already planning to be on the porch cleaning his guns when the boys come around!

Now the sewing and planning will really begin!

It’s been an eventful week around here, with getting ready for our trip coming up in just a few days now.  And then a trip to the vet resulted in surgery for our basset, Sadie.  She had a couple of large cysts on her back, one of which started to weep.  It was recommended that now was the time to take that one off, and while at it might as well take the other off too.  So she’s had a hospital visit, a shave, and a pedicure!  She’s a little stressed, and doesn’t like us leaving her alone just now, but things will get back to normal soon.

So we’ll be headed out in just a few days’ time!  We’ll be sure to share glimpses of our trip as we go – see you all in Blogger land!

Happy travels!             Blessings, Peg

It’s a Deal!

And what a deal!

I’ve had eyes open for one of these beauties for several months now, and it practically fell in my lap yesterday.

003

Our small quilt group met yesterday evening for our last gathering before summer break.  One of the gals had been at an auction, and found TWO Singer Featherweights, for a good price, willing to share with anyone interested for no profit to her!  Two of us just about jumped out of our chairs!

We tried them out – both run, not great, but a good servicing should fix that.  The cords are in good shape, so the deals were made.

I checked the Singer web-site, and this machine was apparently manufactured in 1945.

Now I just need to find a bobbin case for this one – anybody???

Happy ‘new’ machine!                 Blessings, Peg

Congratulations

are due all around for the students graduating with the Class of 2012 University of the Fraser Valley.

And we celebrate especially with our own dear DIL, Bachelor of Kinesiology.  This is actually her second degree, the first one Bachelor of Science, specialty in Biology, was completed last year, but she chose to wait until this year to attend at her convocation.

On one of the most gloriously sunny days this month, we watched with pride as this lovely young woman reached this next step in her goal.  She wants to be an Occupational Therapist and work with children – she’s well on her way!

In other news, speaking of being on her way, we have a baby bump picture to share:IMG_0079 (2)

This is at 18 weeks, almost half-way by dates, possibly half-way if the babies arrive early as expected.  Mom and babies and Dad are all doing well – got a clean bill of health from the specialist this week.  Ultrasound again in just a few days.

On the quilting front – June block for the LQS BOM is done.  029

With our cross-country trip coming up in less than 2 weeks now, it looks like this project will go on hold for a while.

Happy happy days!                  Blessings, Peg

Tis Summer

….and the flowers are gay.

Even though somebody somewhere has officially declared summer doesn’t begin until July……

our garden is showing its colors beautifully.

The first of the roses were brought indoors – the scent just making us heady with summer joy:

Even the onion plants have a pretty show

We’re enjoying it all – the June rains are not dampening our spirits too much, just makes us look forward to the warm days ahead.  And at least we don’t have to worry about watering the plants – for now!

Happy summer days!                 Blessings, Peg

Now that's a first!

Today, I read a blog, right through to the end, looked at and enjoyed all the pictures, enjoyed the tale of the task being shared, and then wanted to make a comment.  It was a great task, a wonderful tale, terrific pictures, beautiful result.
I wanted to tell the writer how much I liked the result of her hard work and artistic talent.  So I told her.  Then clicked 'publish'.  And that darn Captcha popped up - two words, right?  Wrong.  A word - or rather a bunch of letters strung together that make no sense whatsoever, and look weird to boot - and a picture.  Now what am I supposed to do with a picture?  The picture contained one number - was that maybe the 'word'?  Well, all I could do was try.  So I strung together the letters as best I could read them, all the while hoping that, in fact, they were the correct letters, pressed the space bar, then typed the number (not the word but the actual digit, and it was a single digit), and pressed 'publish' again.

Lo and behold - that was exactly what was wanted!  Hmmm.....  They could always put a picture of a single digit number, or 2 of them if that's what they want - much, much, much easier than trying to figure out what those letters really are
Have any of the rest of you ever run across a Captcha like that?

If you want to see the task, take a look here.  Didn't she do a great job?
Blessings, Peg

Aaahhh

Now, that’s a satisfied feeling!

What?  you may ask – well, it was back to actual quilting today!

As much as I’m enjoying sewing for the up-coming grandchildren, and planning/preparing for a long trip, this morning I just HAD to do some quilt-sewing.  And so I did!

First got the June block for Quilting Canadians BOM done:028

Aaaahhh…just love piecing!

Then started and finished a photo-frame hanging for our trailer:

029

I used a green print fat quarter that was sent to me by my Secret Santa – it’s the perfect color for our trailer.   Thanks again SS!  The pictures are some highlights from past trailer trips, starting with Alaska in 2000.

Aaahhh…..memories!

In between, we had a couple of appointments in town, so ran in to do those, and on the way home, took a leisurely side-route, and spotted this little baby:026

Awww….isn’t he just too cute for words?

While we were there, he tried to get a drink, but momma wasn’t having any of that!  She just walked away!

025

All in all, a great day…..now to enjoy dinner…..aaahhh, so nice to have a cooking hubby!

Later getting together with quilting/crafting friends….aaahhh so great to have good friends!

Happily satisfied!                  Blessings, Peg

Lazy

Blogger!

Another week of being lazy – at blogging.  I read all your blogs, but commenting………not so much!  Sometimes it seems as if my comments are all the same old thing, and I like to be specific and encouraging in comments, but my brain just isn’t coming up with the words lately.  And then there’s that darn CAPTCHA – Blogger has decided 2 ‘words’ is better than 1, and has made them more difficult to read (or maybe it’s just me), but sometimes I just can’t be bothered to fill in that little blank box.

But I’ve also been lazy about posting my own, not really sure why because these are really exciting times around this house.  Just in case you haven’t heard……we’re celebrating a sister’s 50th birthday soon, an aunt’s 100th birthday soon, heading across Canada with our trailer going to be gone for almost 3 months, celebrating the wedding of our DS1 in August in Nova Scotia, then expecting twin grandchildren in Oct/Nov.  All of this of course has kept us busy planning and shopping and sewing and……

Not really lazy over all, just about blogging.  So this is a catch-up post, letting you in on most of what’s been happening around here the past 10 days or so.

First our annual family camping trip with Grizz’s brother and sister and our families (or as many of us as can make it).  We’re not a large family, but do enjoy spending time together – and the last few years camping has been added to the mix.

Many hours around the campfire, just relaxing:

044

And Holly thought wine would quench her thirst just fine:

033

Baby diaper sewing took up some time – about half done already.  And then the other new grandma and I had a shopping day to get flannel …..001

……for receiving blankets, burp rags, change pads…..

The sewing continues. And of course, we’re planning quilts for the babies.

We also got yarn for baby sweaters and toques – but I’m not much of a knitter, so my share will be sent along to my mother who has so kindly agreed to take care of that task for me.

Getting ready for a looonnng trailer trip means making sure the vehicle is in tip-top shape, and the trailer too.  We decided to take out some of the carpet and replace it with lino planks – much, much easier to keep clean.  No pictures, sorry, because I just keep forgetting to take the camera to the trailer with me, but looking good!

And I’m winding up my job (doing medicals for folks applying for life or disability insurance) – finally going to be fully retired.  Now that’s a kind of strange feeling.  I’ll let you know how that goes, when life settles a bit and I can kind of figure out what it’s like to have ‘nothing’ to do with myself!

So that’s the news around here.         How’s it going at your house?

Happy times!                     Blessings, Peg
