Eeeee….Look at This

My brother and sister-in-law came for a visit earlier this week, and brought me this lovely treasure:

142.Hand crank machine

In almost mint condition, with several  attachments and a locking cover, it’s a perfect addition to my collection.

I hadn’t intended to start a collection, but it’s come about rather coincidentally and I now have 4 antique machines.  The first was this 1895 treadle machine that my mother used when we were young:14

Then about 6 years ago I picked up this 1911 portable at a flea market near Leavenworth WA:

And about 3 years ago a friend found this 1920’s Featherweight gem at a garage sale for a good price, and couldn’t leave it behind.  She already had one, so offered it to any of us at our quilting group, so I snatched it up:

This newest acquisition was apparently manufactured in 1924, belonged to my sister-in-law’s mother, who apparently never used it (so maybe she inherited it from somebody).  And they’re all Singers!

Happy collecting!       Blessings, Peg
